That Time Chthonic Threw Out the Opening Pitch and Performed “We Are the Champions” at a Taiwanese Baseball Game

Okay, so this apparently happened last summer… but it only just now came to our attention, and it’s too amazing not to share. From the website of Spinefarm, Chthonic’s label:

“The team Brother Elephants said that they have always wanted to invite CHTHONIC to throw the first pitch, hence, it contacted CHTHONIC right after the band returned from Download Festival in the UK, and the two sides reached the deal immediately. To maximize the effect of the ‘metal and baseball’ combination, CHTHONIC was invited to make a performance in addition to the first pitch. For the past month, band members have worked hard to brainstorm on the opening performance. CHTHONIC band leader Doris said that, at first, they wanted to do Take Me Out to the Ball Game, but all the variations that CHTHONIC rearranged sounded like children’s songs, so they eventually decided to work on We Are the Champions.”

Which sounds totally nuts. And the resultant video proves that it was totally nuts:
