Revocation are in the Studio Right Now
Revocation, who up ’til now have been on Relapse, have signed with Metal Blade. I don’t really have an opinion on the move — I have equally warm feelings for both labels, and the band’s reasons for making the switch aren’t really any of my concern or business — but this quote from Dave Davidson in the press release announcing the signing did get me pretty excited (underlining/emphasis mine):
“We are very stoked to announce that we have signed with Metal Blade! We are all extremely proud to be a part of a label with such a long history and legendary roster. Currently, we’re in the studio recording our 5th full length album with Zeuss at the helm. This is the start of a new chapter for us and we are so thankful for all the support that we’ve received from the underground that has gotten us to this point in our career.”
I had no idea that Revocation had even begun to think about their next album, let alone already hit the studio to commence recording. Their most release came out just last year, and they put out an EP in 2012, and another album in 2011. Assuming they get this Metal Blade debut out in 2014 — and if they’re in the studio now, it seems perfectly plausible that they might — we’ll have gotten four Revocation albums in as many years. And so far, they’ve all been awesome, and we really have no reason to believe that this one will be any different. Why can’t ALL good bands work at this pace?
Revocation go on tour in May with Whitechapel, DevilDriver, Carnifex, Rivers of Nihil, and Fit For An Autopsy. Get dates here.
