To Clear Up These Tool Album Rumors Once and for All…
Last week, Tool guitarist Adam Jones allegedly told some random dude’s father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate that the new Tool album was done and ready for release this year. Which, to anyone with some common sense, sounded like questionable intel at best. And even though Jones released a tweet trying to clear up the situation…

…I guess that wasn’t enough, ’cause the band has also released this statement to Rolling Stone:
“Last night, Adam Jones, in a private conversation with fans attending the Portland Tool concert, joked that the band’s new album was not only finished but coming out the next day. Unfortunately, his off-the-cuff joke was taken out of context. Work on the forthcoming album is ongoing and as soon as it is done, trust me, we will be the first to let everyone know.”
So it sounds like some idiot asked Jones when the new album was coming out — as though Jones would just share that information with a fan at a meet and greet — and Jones replied sarcastically, and said idiot couldn’t read Jones’ sarcasm, and, well, here we are. I’m sure some obsessives will interpret this to mean that there is a new Tool album ready and the band is just trying to throw people off that scent. Those obsessives are gonna be pretty sad come January 1, 2015.
