Tiger Flowers Ward of Predators by Imitating the Characteristics of a More Dangerous Species
I readily admit that I had no idea what “Batesian Mimicry” was until I looked it up due to the fact that it’s the title of the new Tiger Flowers song, which has just premiered over at Invisible Oranges. But now that I do know what it means, it seems perfectly fitting with the mood of the track, which starts out all vitriolic-like before vocalist Jesse Madre announces “I used to be more than just these teeth!”, and the song suddenly takes on a somewhat more melancholic tone. Tiger Flowers aren’t screaming because they’re monsters; they’re screaming because they’re trying to scare away predators.
Damn, son. Makes me wanna give ’em a big hug and tell ’em it’s all gonna be alright. They made an awesome album. Uncle Axl won’t let anyone hurt them.
Check out “Batesian Mimicry” below. It will appear on the band’s aforementioned awesome album, Dead Hymns, which comes out April 8 on Melotov Records.
