Josh Homme Hates Hugs
So Queens of the Stone age were performing in St. Petersburg, FL, last week, when a fan leapt onto the stage and tried to give his rockstar hero, Josh Homme, a hug.
It didn’t go so well for him.
In case you can’t understand what Homme is saying, here’s a helpful transcription, courtesy of The PRP:
“Don’t do that, because I’ll fucking… I don’t care if you love me. You can stay right there dude. I don’t know what you’re trying to do. You’re lucky I didn’t fuck you up bro. I’m here to play for you, not jerk you off, you fucking douchebag.”
And:
“Cause we’re going to be together right? That motherfucker doesn’t know what we’re talking about. We’re talking about being together, I want to play it for, I want to show you something, I want to be together, you know? I wanna… I want to do something together, but I don’t want this asshole to be up on the stage… Fuck that guy. Long live us, but fuck this guy.”
I’m of two minds about this. I think if you get up on stage uninvited, you just dive off immediately, and, yeah, touching the performers probably isn’t a good idea, either (especially in the post-Dimebag era).
That being said, Homme is a rock star and should be used to his fans fawning over him, and, frankly, I think he overreacted. Even if this fan made an error in judgment, it wasn’t so grievous as to make him a “fucking douchebag.” I mean, you know who gets THIS upset when one of members of the unwashed masses dares to touch him? Fred Durst. So, yeah, great company to keep.
Also, “You’re lucky I didn’t fuck you up, bro!” is the kind of phrase used exclusively by fucking douchebags. Just sayin’.
