Tim Lambesis’ Austrian Death Machine Will Actually Release Crowd Funded New Album, Triple Brutal
In a more innocent time we know as “Prior to May 7, 2013,” As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis raised nearly eighty grand to make a new album with his Ahnuld-themed side project, Austrian Death Machine. After Lambesis’ arrest, we wondered if ADM fans who contributed to the crowdfunding campaign would get a refund — but then the band claimed that they were gonna go ahead and release the album regardless of Lambesis’ ongoing legal travails.
And they weren’t just talkin’ big talk! Triple Brutal is now scheduled for release via Artery Recordings on — wait for it — April 1!!!
This so-unfunny-it’s-funny fact is made only that much more so-unfunny-it’s-funny by the fact that many of ADM’s lyrics revolve around violence (“I’m gonna get backup then come shoot you in the face,” “You have been erased,” etc.). Lyrics which were written in jest a year ago will now taken on a whole new meaning. Strange, strange, strange.
I can’t believe anybody thought this was a good idea. Obviously, people who chipped in on the crowdfunding thing are already getting this future bizarre footnote in the annals of metal history. Will anyone else buy it? I suppose its first week sales will be a true test of the old adage, “There’s no such thing as bad press.” At least proceeds from the release will go to World Vision Charity.
