Black Medal: Every Time I Die’s Keith Buckley Gets Experimental
Every Time I Die haven’t released a new album since 2012, but vocalist Keith Buckley is staying busy with a side project called Black Medal. No, it’s not black metal — it’s not even metal — but it is pretty dark, and it’s actually really cool.
If Massive Attack’s Mezzanine or Portishead’s Dummy are what you put on for background music at dinner parties to provide a chilled out mood without getting too uppity and happy about it, Black Medal is certainly worth checking out. If those records are too far outside your frame of reference: a slightly mellower ††† (Crosses), one of Chino Moreno’s many side projects. The band’s got three tracks posted on their website including a brand new one called “Could’ve,” and I’m all sorts of digging them. You should too. More info on Facebook if you want it.
