Spring Tour Confirmed: Ghost and King Dude (no In Solitude)
UPDATE #2, 2:21pm EST: The tour has officially been announced with full dates posted below. In Solitude will not be part of the trek as previously reported, but King Dude will be. We’re not familiar with King Dude, but you can check them out here.
UPDATE, 12:11pm EST: More dates have now been announced via The PRP! The full list is shown below. Additionally, some dates list King Dude as the support act instead of In Solitude. And I was wrong about there being no NYC date. Hooray!
Original Post:
I missed Ghost when they came through the U.S. this past fall with Avenged Sevenfold and the Deftones which is a shame because I was curious to see how their live show translated to the arena setting. Come to think of it I feel like I’ve missed them the last several times — they did a headliner tour last spring, and, back in 2012, that run with Opeth and Mastodon. The last and only time I saw Ghost live was their very first U.S. tour in early 2012, just 13 dates from NYC to LA when the Ghost hype train was first gaining steam. Although I’m not as on-board the Ghost bandwagon as some I do like the band, and I’d totally smoke a doob and soak in a bombastic Ghost headline set with all the bells and whistles.
Welp, it looks like I might have to wait even longer. Lambgoat is reporting that dates for a spring tour with In Solitude are slipping out, and since Lambgoat is always right about these things we’ll take them fully at face value. But from the looks of it this is going to be a secondary (even tertiary) market tour: there are exceptions, but most of the time when a band plays Poughkeepsie they won’t play NYC, when they play Lawrence, KS they won’t be playing in Kansas City, and so on and so forth. Sucks for me, but great for lots of you nonetheless!
Lambgoat also points out that there is at least one theory that one or more members of Ghost are also members of In Solitude. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I’ll bet MS commenters have all sorts of opinions on it.
