Sabaton’s Heroes Album Art is Hilarious (I Think)
Former W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes’ favorite up-and-coming European band, Sabaton, have unveiled the cover art for what Mr. Holmes probably thinks is their sophomore effort, Heroes. It’s actually a very nice piece by an artist named Péter Sallai. It is also completely ridiculous.
I know that all of Sabaton’s songs are about war, and I am definitely all for slugging Nazis in the face. But the first thing I thought of when I saw it was this:
I guess what I’m saying is: I’m unclear as to the tone Sabaton are going for. Are they TRYING to be cartoonish? For some reason I always thought that their historical lyrics were meant to be taken seriously. If they’re going for that whole kinda Inglorious Basterds ridiculously-over-the-top and clearly not-actually-historically-accurate thing, well, then, the cover they’ve selected is fine. If not, uh… it’s just, like, super weird and awkward and funny all at once.
ANYWAY, I am probably over-thinking this as usual. So, yeah.
Heroes comes out May 16 on Nuclear Blast.
