New Eye of Solitude Video: Funeral Doom for the New Age

Shame on me for sleeping on this one when it was released in 2013 — but English funeral doom band Eye of Solitude released a pretty killer album called Canto III, based on the concept of Dante’s Inferno. Now Metal Injection has premiered the official music video for the song “Act II: Where the Descent Began” and I’m kicking myself for waiting until now to check this band out.

Eye of Solitude’s influences are clear, but what I like about them is that they take the tried and true funeral doom formula that’s been hawked in Britain for over two decades and put a modern spin on it. This track is equal parts Paradise Lost, Opeth, Insomnium and Eye of Solitude’s own haecceity. The video ain’t nothing to sneeze at from a visual perspective either. Give it a whirl.
