Death To All’s Max Phelps Releases Fusion-Metal Band Exist’s Debut Album
Death to All wowed everyone when they took their show on the road in 2012 with an all-star cast of metal characters to honor the late, great Chuck Schuldiner. When they decided to do so again in 2013 they brought in Max Phelps to front the band instead of the rotating merry-go-round of vocalists present on the 2012 incarnation. That move made plenty of sense because Phelps was Paul Masvidal and Sean Reinert’s bandmate in the most recent line-up of Cynic, and those two dudes anchored the 2013 lineup of Death to All, but it shocked some folks because Phelps was a much lesser-known choice than guys like Abysmal Dawn’s Charles Elliott, Obscura’s Steffen Kummerer, and Exhumed’s Matt Harvey that had done it the year prior.
But Phelps did not disappoint! He’s currently bringing the Death to All goodness to the other side of the pond, in fact. His presence on the tour also shone a light upon his fusion-metal band Exist, who we’d featured on MS in the past. And that’s great news because Exist is highly excellent too.
Exist has a new album out called Sunlight, and now’s your chance to check it out. The Cynic influence is definitely present, but it’s much heavier — closer to Intronaut (at their heavier moments), Carnal Rapture, Nero di Marte. I know you’re gonna dig it. Sunlight is available for just $2 digitally (or more, your choice) or $10 on CD at the band’s website. Check out a couple of the album’s tracks below.
