What are the WORST Metal Albums of 2013?
For self-explanatory reasons, I’ve been thinking about this issue a lot recently, and the conclusion I’ve come to is this: Megadeth’s Super Collider is the worst album of 2013. My reasoning, admittedly, has as much to do with context as it does with actual music: of course the latest releases from Korn, Attila, and Winds of Plague were terrible. They were always going to be terrible. But we expect more from Megadeth, especially in the post-Risk era, when we’d like to think Dave Mustaine has learned his lesson. Super Collider was like Megadeth’s Lulu, though: there was this sinking feeling of “Seriously, bruh? AGAIN???” on TOP of the fact that the music was awful.
That being said, 2013 was devoid of an actual Lulu or Ilud Divinum Insanus — and album on which the metal community seems to unanimously concur is just, like, the worst thing EVER — so I’m sure you all have your own opinions. So you tell us: what really ruined your day in 2013? Is there a less-obvious release than the ones I’ve mentioned which deserves to be shat upon? Is there something truly God-awful that we missed altogether? We anxiously await your nominees in the comments section below!
