welcome to prime time durstYou may recall that a couple of years back, Fred Durst signed a deal with CBS to develop a somewhat autobiographical sitcom, Douchebag, about a rock star trying to balance his celebrity with his family life. Apparently, that never worked out, so now Durst is trying again… this time with a dramatic interpretation of his life. Says TV Guide:

The Noise, created by Durst, chronicles the rise of a young artist in the 1990s who escapes a tumultuous home life and forms a wildly popular band with a unique sound.”

“A unique sound,” LOL. Okay, Freddy. Whatever you say dude.

In any case, this basically sounds like a series version of Eminem’s 8 Mile, which, uh, okay. It’s being written by Miles Feld, who has no produced  credits, and executive produced by Eric and Kim Tannenbaum, who have worked on some really successful crap television series (Two and a Half Men), some really unsuccessful crap television series (Running Wilde), and one crap kind-of successful movie (You Again). Oh, and if it gets picked up, it will air on The CW, home of such fine programs as Nothing Anyone Over the Age of Sixteen Watches. So, basically, unless Miles Feld turns out to be the next Aaron Sorkin, it’s a safe bet that this is going to suck.

But hopefully it will suck in a really inadvertently funny way. That’s all we really want from anything Fred Durst-related, isn’t it?
