Tour Cancellation #2: Sepultura in North America
Admittedly, I have never had to apply for a U.S. work visa, but I gotta say, I am confounded by how often issues with such documents cause tour cancellations. Apparently, Sepultura are the latest band to drown in this Red Tape Sea:
“Due to the delay in obtaining a visa for the band to enter the United States, we regret to inform all fans that the previously announced North American tour is being cancelled. We apologize to the fans, promoters, and the bands who were going to be part of the ‘Tsunami Of Metal’ tour – Unearth, Kataklysm, Scar The Martyr, Anciients, and Dark Sermon.”
I mean, what the hell, United States Department of Whomever the Fuck Takes Care of this Shit? What is the goddamned problem? Did someone look at Paulo Jr. and go “Hm, that dude looks fishy, we’d better make sure he stays in South America?” Is everyone in that office a Soulfly fan? Afer approximately one billion previous U.S. tours, don’t these dudes just get like a free pass or something? I mean come the fuck on.
In any case, you can obviously get a refund if you already bought a ticket. But more than money back, I’d love to get a show with the other bands on the bill (and by “other bands on the bill,” I mean Unearth, Kataklysm, and Anciients). Either that, or the phone number of the guy who didn’t approve Sepultura’s visa in time so I can prank call him like a motherfucker. Either way I’d be satisfied.
