All That Remains Release Video for Nickelback Cover
There are certain hallmarks of the late 90s/early aughts power ballad video, the same way there are certain hallmarks of the 80s/early 90s hair metal power ballad video. Whereas the members of bands like Guns N’ Roses and Bon Jovi really liked to stand on mountain tops and out in the middle of fields and shit like that, bands like Nickelsuck and Puddle of Suck preferred to intercut wistful slo-mo footage of couples and families…
….brightly lit and often highlighted with lens flares…
…, with footage of the band performing in some nondescript space and the singer looking right into the camera.
So, no. The new All That Remains video is not, in fact, for a cover of a Nickelsuck song, or a Puddle of Suck song, or a song by any other crappy band from the past fifteen years or so.
But you can understand my confusion.
We’ve come a long, long, LONG way from from This Darkened Heart, haven’t we?
