Countdown to the Fourth Annual MetalSucks/Metal Injection CMJ Showcase: Hivesmasher

The Fourth Annual MetalSucks/Metal Injection CMJ Showcase is THIS FRIDAY at The Acheron in Brooklyn! And if any of our past CMJ shows are any indication, it’s going to be the party of the goddamn year! Tickets are on sale now for just ten bucks, and the show will feature headliners Fuck the Facts along with Fit For An Autopsy, Meek is Murder, Stomach Earth, and Boston’s current reigning gods of grind, Hivesmasher.

Hivesmasher aren’t exactly a new band, but last year’s Gutter Choir certainly seems to have made the band a lot of new fans. Little wonder: Gutter Choir represents the best of what grind can be, offering listeners a near-perfect mix of snotty nihilism, pitch-black gallows humor, and seething virulence in its purest audio form.  They’re a sight to behold live, too, where vocalist Aaron Heinold stalks around the stage like some kind of schizophrenic manimal while the rest of the band morph into human cherry bombs behind him.

Says drummer Tim Brault (who will be pulling double-duty on Friday — he’s also playing with Stomach Earth):

“It’s hard to quantify just how excited we are to be a part of this stacked lineup. We’ve looked up to many of these musicians since we were covered in zits in high school, and to have the chance to share a bill with them, or in my extremely lucky circumstance play alongside some of them, is just an incredible feeling. I’m sure it’s going to be quite the party.”
