Countdown to the Fourth Annual MetalSucks/Metal Injection CMJ Showcase: Meek is Murder

The Fourth Annual MetalSucks/Metal Injection CMJ Showcase is THIS FRIDAY at The Acheron in Brooklyn! And if any of our past CMJ shows are any indication, it’s going to be the party of the goddamn year! Tickets are on sale now for just ten bucks, and the show will feature headliners Fuck the Facts along with Fit For An Autopsy, Hivesmasher, Stomach Earth, and Brooklyn’s own Meek is Murder.

This gig will actually act as a record release show for Meek is Murder, whose latest offering, Everything is Awesome Nothing Matters, comes out October 22 (just one week from today!). Working once again with Converge guitarist and producer extraordinaire Kurt Ballou, MiM have once again crafted an album that might best be compared to a rubber band covered in sandpaper: elastic and spazzy, but totally rough n’ raw, too. From what I gather, the band’s songwriting process gets increasingly collaborative with each album; as a result, MiM avoid the pratfall of churning out an endless parade of stale retreads the way too-many underground bands to. Everything is Awesome Nothing Matters is a half-correct title, then — the album is awesome, and it does matter.
