Max Cavalera/Greg Puciato/Troy Sanders Supergroup Finds a Label Home
The new project featuring Max Cavalera, The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Greg Puciato, Mastodon’s Troy Sanders, former The Mars Volta drummer Dave Elitch, and possibly Nate Newton of Converge/Old Man Gloom/Doomriders fame, still does not have a name. But they are in the studio right now with producer Josh Wilbur, hard at work on their debut album… and now they’ve signed a deal with Nuclear Blast Entertainment to release that album.
Which makes sense! Soulfly is already signed to NBE, and Cavalera seems to be spearheading this project. So, there ya go.
The album apparently has twelve songs, which Cavalera says sound like a hybrid of Soulfly and Mastodon, which is exactly what you’d expect from an album being largely written by dudes from Soufly and Mastodon (although I’m sure I’m not alone in wishing the template was a hybrid between old Sepultura and Mastodon instead). The record is tentatively scheduled to be released in mid-2014. More details as we get ’em.
