Eyehategod Announce New Shows — But Who Will Play Drums?
You gotta give it Eyehategod: they are certainly persevering in the wake founding drummer Joey LaCaze’s untimely death from respiratory failure. Not only has the band not cancelled their appearance at this month’s Housecore Horror Film & Music Festival — where the Melvins’ Dale Crover will fill-in on drums — but now they’ve announced another small batch of shows for the days following that fest!
Of course, this does beg the question: “Who will be playing drums?” While Crover and his fellow Melvins do have other tour dates planned for this year, post-Housecore fest, they’re free and clear ’til Decemeber. So since Crover a) is apparently free and b) presumably has to learn a set worth’s full of Eyehategod songs and rehearse them with the band to perform at Housecore anyway, he seems like the logical choice. That being said, no official announcement has been made yet, so no one should assume that Crover is on board for these other dates.
Regardless of who is behind the kit, these shows will obviously be very special must-attend events. Here is Eyehategod’s complete fall itinerary as it stands now, courtesy of Metal Injection:
