Halestorm Second Metal Band in As Many Months to Cover Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky”
And you thought three bands covering Sepultura’s “Arise” in one calendar year was overkill.
Halestorm have released a cover of Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” making them the first metal band to ever cover that song since July. For it was a scant nine weeks ago that Kobra and the Lotus guitarist Charlie Parra del Riego and Damnation Angels vocalist Per Fredrik Pellek released their cover of the song. Which I also didn’t think was nearly as good as the original… but which is certainly much better than Halestorm’s cover, which is irritating as fuck from the moment it starts and vocalist Lzzy Hale, who suffers from a rare disorder which prohibits her from ever writing the letter “I,” starts whispering the title of the song over the worst Disturbed riff this side of Device.
If you somehow enjoyed that, it will appear on Halestorm’s new covers EP, ReAniMate 2.0: The CoVeRs eP, which comes out October 15 on Broken Caps Lock Records. Also, if you somehow enjoyed that, please go bang your funny bone against the side of a desk. Thank you.
