Pot Calls Kettle Brown(ing)

I just made myself sit through The Browning’s new lyric video, for the song “Industry,” purely based on the suspicion that the lyrics would be totally fuckdiculous — and fuckdiculous they are yes sir indeedy.  Many, if not all, of the song’s accusatory lyrics — “How do you fool them night after night?”, “You’re just another face in this dying scene,” etc. — could easily be applied to this band. It’s like The Browning think their shit ain’t brown or something.

On top of which, even if The Browning weren’t a completely deplorable scene band, the lyrics would be pretty wrong-minded. Trendy-but-shitty bands with egotistical members didn’t kill the record industry — illegal downloading did. I PROMISE you, there were trendy-but-shitty bands with egotistical members YEARS before the record industry went into the crapper. Blaming the music biz’s woes on flash-in-the-pans with big heads is like blaming the rain on a flock of birds. Just because they were in the sky doesn’t mean it was their fault.
