Necrophagist Drummer Romain Goulon: “There Will Be a New Album”
We now live in a world where Chinese Democracy and Worship Music are both really real things. This leaves Necrophagist’s fabled third album, which may or not be titled The Path to Naught and Death to the Faithful (both references to the prolonged wait for the record?), as metal’s unheard Holy Grail. It’s been nine years since the release of Epitaph, and at this point, I’ve pretty much given up all hope of there ever being a new Necrophagist album.
But drummer Romain Goulon swears I need not be so cynical! After posting on his Facebook page that he was going to be recording some unspecified brutal death metal in the coming weeks, fans understandably went apeshit, hoping/praying that he meant he was going to work on a new Necrophagist recordings. He then clarified that while, alas, he did not mean new Necrophagist recordings, there will be new Necrophagist recordings… someday:
Goulon has technically been a member of the band since 2008… but that doesn’t really mean much, does it? He’s played with live them and it’s said that he’s been a part of whatever work has been done on a new album, but he’s clearly not in charge of the situation, as he states above. So, speaking for myself personally, I’m not gonna get excited ’til we hear something from Muhammed Suiçmez. I’ve been hurt too many times before to keep blindly following my heart!
