Maynard James Keenan is the biggest troll ever. He knows how easily he can get the entire metalsphere worked into a tizzy every time he so much as mentions the word “Tool” in an interview or public communique of any kind. New Tool album rumors crop up every few months because of it, without fail. And yet we all keep buying into the hype like a brace of little ducklings following mama along without care or worry.

The latest: Maynard’s 666th Instagram photo, posted above, with the following caption:

I take the first part with a grain of salt, since music is not always happening for Maynard on all fronts; he’s said as much in interviews. But the #tool2014 hash tag is certainly significant. It could just mean that Tool music will be written in 2014, and not necessarily released. It could mean a new album. It could also just mean a tour. We could be splitting hairs, as always. I guess we’ll find out next year.

Also, what the hell is G-Mart? And lol that Maynard still uses Instagram filters, didn’t know anyone did that anymore!
