Max Cavalera/Greg Puciato/Troy Sanders Supergroup Begins Recording Debut
It’s been almost a year since we last heard anything about the new supergroup featuring Max Cavalera, The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Greg Puciato, and Mastodon’s Troy Sanders — but it looks like the three heavyweights have finally managed to make their schedules align, because they’re at LA’s Fortress Studio with producer Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God’s Resolution, Gojira’s L’Enfant Sauvage, Hatebreed’s The Divinity of Purpose, etc.) recording their debut album, according to BM. While they’re joined, as previously reported, by Dave Elitch, former drummer for The Mars Volta, the story makes no mention of Nate Newton (Converge, Old Man Gloom, Doomriders), who was also said to be part of the project at one point. It’s possible he’s still involved, I’m just saying we can’t confirm he’s still involved.
ANYWAY, the group’s debut should be released sometime next year. It’s hard for me to imagine we’ll see any touring behind it given, again, these dudes’ respective schedules, but who knows? I’d be game for a Mastodillingerescapeply tour with a big jam sesh at the end, and I imagine lotsa other folks would be, too. So we can keep the dream alive for now!
