For the Fallen Dreams Bassist Kickstarts $81,000… on a Wallet Design

I can’t say I’ve ever listened to For the Fallen Dreams before, but based on their band name I’m pretty sure I know exactly what they sound like, and you do too. Yup, exactly.

But none of that matters, because the band’s bassist Brandon Stastny has launched a new empire… based on a wallet design. Stastny’s “The MostRad Minimalist Wallet” (with integrated RFID protection!) has raised over $81,000 from over 2,000 backers with six days still remaining in the Kickstarter campaign. Yes, really.

So what have we learned here?

1. For the Fallen Dreams are apparently very popular.
2. Fans of 5th-gen derivative metalcore bands will buy ANYTHING connected to that band.
3. The real money is in fashion design, not music. When was the last time any single member of any band not named Metallica cleared $80,000 in a month? Given, that’s not all profit, but it’s also just the beginning of this product’s cycle.
