Here’s the Trailer for Anders Björler’s Debut Solo Album, Antikythera
Anders Björler promised that his debut solo album, Antikythera, “is NOT a ‘Metal’ project;” he later elaborated for us :
“It’s 100% instrumental, and kind of resembles film soundtrack music in the structure. The album will reflect my love for Italian soundtrack music like Goblin, Bruno Nicolai, Fabio Frizzi, Walter Rizzati, etc., mixed with influences from progressive UK bands (King Crimson, Camel, UK, Alan Holdsworth), Post Rock (Explosions In The Sky, MONO), ambient (Harold Budd, Brian Eno) and Jazz/Swedish Folk Music (Jan Johansson, Esbjorn Svenssons Trio, Lars Gullin, etc.).”
And judging by the newly-released trailer for the album, that wasn’t just hype. This is definitely not metal, but it does have a very cinematic quality to it — to say nothing of the fact that it sounds, well, relaxing! In other words, I still wanna hear Antikythera, even if there’s nary a crushing riff on the damned thing.
Check out the trailer below. Antikythera comes out November 6. Other musicians who appear on the album include Meshuggah bassist Dick Lövgren!
