Slayer Graffiti Mistaken for Hate Crime Graffiti
Stupid squares strike again!
Wicks Park in Commack, NY was vandalized last week — specifically, someone spray-painted the name of a certain legendary thrash metal band, as well as pentagram, on a wall:
Okay so whatever, right? Wrong! Because someone called the cops… and reported the graffiti as a hate crime. Luckily the cops figured out that a Star of David has six points, not five, and thus deduced that this wasn’t a hate crime, just a crime against good taste. Phew!
This isn’t the first time Slayer have been at the heart of a such a controversy… although it’s hard to figure out why this keeps happening to them. I mean, okay, sure, they wrote a song about Mengele, and, alright, their fan club is named after the Nazis’ armed forces, and, yeah, Jeff Hanneman collected Nazi “memorabilia,” and, fine, one version of their logo is a variation of the Nazi Eagle… but I mean, c’mon, that’s just four little coincidences! I mean really it’s almost like people are gunning for these poor innocent dudes.
