Every Day I Get Closer to the Light From Which Jesu Came
Justin K. Broadrick’s claim that Godflesh are writing new music “really, really slowly” has turned out to be almost comically accurate — ’cause he said that in 2011, and here are two years later with no new Godflesh album (although they will tour with Nails this fall). Hopefully that record will actually materialize at some point, but in the meantime, at least myself, my fellow Broadmirericks, and other music fans who don’t hold shoegaze in disdain will have this look forward to:
The great Jesu have completed a new album! It’s called Every Day I Get Closer to the Light From Which I Came! It’s coming out in the fall! EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!!!!!
More bad news for people who don’t like shoegaze/good news for everyone else: FACT reports that Light “is apparently less reliant on shorter, guitar-led songs” than Jesu’s last offering, 2011’s Ascension, “instead focusing on a darker, more sombre mood.” Which is fine by me! I liked Ascension but not as much as a lotta other Jesu material (my favorite Jesu releases are actually the EPs Silver and Lifeline… judge me if you will).
The album comes out September 23, so presumably we’ll get a lil’ taste soon. ‘Til then, remember:
