Watch The Ocean’s New Music Video, Their First Ever [NSFW]
The Ocean’s Pelagial is still easily one of my favorite records of 2013 so far. It warms my cockles that The Ocean came back so strong after the slight let-down that was the –centric albums, ’cause Precambrian was such a stellar record through and through. If you haven’t given Pelagial a shot yet, what the hell is wrong with you? It’s a concept album about the different layers of the sea that gets heavier as the album progresses deeper below the ocean surface!! How cool is that? Of course it’d mean nothing if the music wasn’t expertly crafted, but thankfully it is in typical Oceanian fashion.
Here’s a good place to start: the band’s new music video for “Bathyalpelagic II: The Wish In Dreams” — their first official music video ever, not counting entries pieced together from live clips — which places somewhere in the middle of the album, and, hence, the heaviness spectrum. It’s not the most creative video of all time or anything but it’s cool to see shots of the band members playing since I barely know what they all look like. And, oh yeah, boobs!
The Ocean are out killing it on Summer Slaughter right now (dates here), and I can’t wait to see them when they come to NYC. Speaking of which, I’ve heard through the grapevine that a band listed as “Pelagial” is playing at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn on Tuesday, August 6th. It’s a day before the NYC Summer Slaughter stop and it’s an off-date for that tour. Could it be The Ocean in disguise?? I sure hope so because an abbreviated 30-minute set at Slaughter is NOT enough!
