Watch: Selim Lemouchi’s “Thistle” Draws The Devil’s Blood
It happened so fast: The Devil’s Blood, while gaining steam behind a pair of awesome records and a key tour with Behemoth and Watain, announced their break-up. Then, before tears had dried, a third album by TDB was released (in demo form) titled Tabula Rasa or Death And The Seven Pillars. Then, while fans sat still for the lengthy process of letting a new TDB record spin its cocoon around us, we found out there was still more: TDB frontman Selim Lemouchi had already unveiled a choice jam from his new project, Selim Lemouchi & His Enemies.
That was February-June. Now, we part the threads of our silken pupul to see that SL&HE has dropped an EP in Europe, from whence comes a new song and video, “Thistle” (above). Two more tracks round out the EP, titled Mens Animus Corpus (no US release date yet) — which along with that first track, a monster improv (here), and a spaced-out instrumental (below) add up to an album-length meditation for the morning after Tabula Rasa‘s midnight drug odyssey.
It will also be a awesome soundtrack to our upcoming MetalSucks Q&A with a decisive, fun Lemouchi about the end of The Devil’s Blood, the thrill of starting over, and the misperception of relief as bitterness. Look for it Friday!
