Watain Kill a Child
My favorite song on Watain’s new album, The Wild Hunt, is called “The Wild Hunt.” Inspired by Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian, the song might best be described as a ballad, complete with acoustic guitars, clean vocals, and a Richie-Sambora-on-top-of-a-mountain-worthy solo. I have no idea if the band plan to release it as a single prior to the album’s release or not; it’s such a great fuckin’ tune, but I can see it being totally divisive amongst fans of the band famous for throwing animal carcasses around on stage.
Thus, the second song (after this one) to be released from Hunt is “The Child Must Die,” which is pretty good, but considerably less, well, weird (at least by Watain standards). Listen below, see if you dig:
The Wild Hunt comes out August 20 on Century.
