Gorguts Share Their “Ocean of Wisdom”
As of sometime in the next eight or nine minutes, you will have heard two of the first three tracks on Gorguts’ ridiculously good new album, Colored Sands. And although these songs are just as furious and techy as anything you’d expect from Luc Lemay and company, while recently interviewing the guitarist/vocalist for The MetalSucks Podcast, he told me that the first half of the album is actually about something both beautiful and spiritual: the selection of the new Dali Lama. It’s actually the album’s second half that deals with more typical death metal fare (specifically, the Chinese oppression of Tibet). That’s why the album cover features hands that are both praying and bound.
And so here is “An Ocean of Wisdom,” a beautifully ugly tech-death song about a beautifully beautiful topic. Colored Sands comes out September 3 on Season of Mist.
