Unsigned and Unholy: Boss Keloid, Shaded Enmity, Assayer
Boss Keloid are going for a Coalesce-meets-Clutch kinda thing — a slightly southern blues-y tinged version of skronky post-hardcore — and it’s working splendidly. Digging this very much! Stream their album The Calming Influence of Teeth below.
Shaded Enmity are led by guitarist Joe Nurre, who you may know as the second guitarist in Jeff Loomis’ band. That right there should make you pay attention. His buddy, 7 Horns 7 Eyes mastermind/guitarist and Jeff Loomis collaborator Aaron Smith produced Shaded Enmity’s new record Forsaken and Forgotten. That should make you pay double attention! It’s like a big happy Loomis family. Stream the entire new album below and order it via Bandcamp.
According to Wikipedia, “An assayer is a person who tests ores and minerals and analyzes them to determine their composition and value.” It’s also funny because, ya know… Ass-sayer. I’m conjuring mental images of a butt with a mouth for an asshole just talking trash constantly. In any case Assayer are a pretty decent thrash+ band. Metallica might’ve sounded like this if they didn’t start sucking. You could also just listen to modern day Testament and get pretty close to what these guys are doing.
