Vince is Going to the Roskilde Festival in Denmark!
Anso isn’t the only incredibly good-looking MetalSucks writer attending a festival in another country this summer — Vince will be attending the mammoth Roskilde Festival in Denmark next week!
The festival lasts for four days (plus five “warm up” days prior with only one operating stage) and features a variety of musical acts, both metal and non-metal, spanning nine (!) different stages. Slipknot, Metallica, Kvelertak, Goatwhore, The Devin Townsend Project, Hatebreed, Ensiferum, The Sword and Queens of the Stone Age are just a few of the metal or metal-friendly bands I plan on seeing. But the truth is I’m kinda more stoked on the non-metal acts, ones that I don’t often have the opportunity to see in the U.S. or just wouldn’t seek out under normal circumstances: Kraftwerk, David Lindley, Kendrick Lamar, Turbonegro, Of Monsters and Men, Crystal Castles, Ice Age, Sigur Ros, Goat … shit, I’d even give Rihanna a peak (why not?).
I like the idea of being at a festival with the express purpose of seeking out metal but having the opportunity to see a bunch of other stuff too if I so choose. And doing it with 110,000 other people PER DAY in the infinite peak summer light of the gorgeous Danish countryside. Check out the full band schedule here.
I’ll be traveling with Frank from Metal Injection. We arrive in Copenhagen on Monday, July 1st, hang there for three days, then head to the festival on the 4th. It’ll be the first time in Denmark for both of us, so please hit us up with some travel tips: cool spots to see, delicious places to eat and fun places to drink, any must-visit metal hangs, and so on and so forth. Vince[at]metalsucks[dot]net is the preferred method of contact. Stoked to hang with some Danish Suckalos!
