Too Soon? Corey Mitchell’s Best of 2013… So Far
As usual, I am two months behind on my listening. Since I was finishing up my next book and preparing for the inaugural Housecore Horror Film Festival (HHFF), I only made it through the April releases.
So far, the first third of this year looks pretty strong. There do not, however, seem to be any releases that will change my outlook on metal forever, but several solid ones make it an amazing start to the year.
Of course, there is an obvious bias in my list in that three titles are from bands that will be playing HHFF – Bloody Hammers, Iron Reagan, and Warbeast. Oh, and Bloody Hammers is definitely my favorite album of the year so far. Yeah, I know it was released overseas in November 2012, but it’s U.S. release was February of this year. All of the others were released in the U.S. in 2013 as well.
Agrimonia – Rites of Separation
Anciients – Heart of Oak
Batillus – Concrete Sustain
Bloody Hammers – s/t
Corpus Mortale – FleshCraft
Devourment – Conceived in Sewage

KEN Mode – Entrench
Morbid Carnage – Merciless Conquest
Nails – Abandon All Life
Void of Sleep – Tales Between reality and Madness
Voivod – Target Earth
Warbeast – Destroy
Zozobra – Savage Masters
