“We Are” Karnivool
UPDATE, 12:56pm EDT: “The Refusal,” the song Karnivool released a few weeks back, will in fact be the 5th track on their new album. Thanks to MS commenter “Timmay” for pointing this out. I guess Asymmetry will be quite a varied album.
Original Post:
I’ll be the first one to admit I overreacted at the sub-par production of “The Refusal,” a “new song” Karnivool released last month that ended up being a B-side (MetalSucks overreacted about something?? Naw, you don’t say!). I’m just glad that song wasn’t in fact new, and that we still had [hopefully awesome] new Karnivool music to look forward to this year.
And today we get just that: “We Are,” a brand new song and video all in one, has made its debut via Karnivool’s website. The song is everything Karnivool fans want a new song to be, with a pulsating, distorted bass line carrying a driving, off-kilter 6/8 groove and shimmery, atmospheric guitars punctuating lightly overdriven rhythms, all under Ian Kenny’s distinct, operatic voice. The video is creepy as hell, depicting some end-of-the-world type shit but with a twist. Check it:
Asymmetry will be out later this summer.
