The Word Alive are Single White Female-ing As I Lay Dying
What the hell are The World Alive doing? First, they became one of the bands to step in for As I Lay Dying when that band was forced to drop off of the now-in-progress Killswitch Engage tour; now they’ve gone ahead and unveiled a live cover of AILD’s “94 Hours.” What’s next — is their vocalist gonna go and hire an undercover cop to whack his ex?
What I can’t tell is whether The Word Alive intend for the cover to be an homage or an insult. I can see it either way, especially given the song’s lyrics, which make reference to “regret,” “innocence,” and how “The pain of a moment’s time will forever beg your forgiveness.”
Of course, it’s also entirely possible that The Word Alive are just trying to get some attention, in which case they have certainly succeeded: they will now be famous for being the Jennifer Jason Leigh to AILD’s Bridgette Fonda.
