Lambesis Update: Sherriff’s Department Comments on Arrest, Arraignment Set, and Members of the Metal Community React
I don’t know about you guys, but I’m still in shock following yesterday’s news that As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis has been arrested for allegedly plotting to have his estranged wife, Meggan, killed. Here are the latest developments in this truly shocking story:
- According to the San Diego County Sherriff Department’s website (screenshots here and here) Lambesis is currently being held at the Vista Detention Center in Vista, CA; his arraignment is scheduled for tomorrow, May 9, at 1:30 pm PDT at the North Division Court. He is currently listed as being ineligible for bail. According to The PRP, “If [Lambesis is] eventually found guilty, the Solicitation of Another to Commit Murder charge alone is punishable by imprisonment in a state prison for 3-9 years in California.”
- Jan Caldwell from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department has spoken to Artisan News Service about Lambesis’ arrest, confirming that authorities have been investigating Lambesis since last Thursday, May 2, after “Information came to us… that Lambesis was soliciting another individual to kill his estranged wife.” Caldwell goes on to say that “The investigation at our end is still ongoing… But I believe that the captain who commented earlier said that we averted a tragedy today.” You can listen to the interview with Caldwell below:
- Finally, members of the metal community have begun to share their reactions to Lambesis’ arrest. A few of those reactions follow… they are, rather understandably, all expressions of shock:
Don’t know whats really true or not, but my mind is blown right now by this news about Tim. Surreal. Like a Lifetime movie script.
