Chthonic Are “Defenders of Bú-tik Palace”

If J.J. Abrams directed The Matrix, it would probably look something like “Defenders of Bú-tik Palace,” Doris Yeh and The Mad Maxketeers. There’s a ton of wire work, cool-but-possibly-meaningless imagery, and lens flares. You weren’t dying to see it, but you had nothing better to do just now, and it was entertaining enough while it lasted. What did we see last night? Oh, right.

Chthonic’s new album, Bú-tik — which, I’m guessing, is not just Taiwanese for “boutique” — comes out June 3 on Spinefarm.
