The Dillinger Escape Plan Lost a Bet

The video for The Dillinger Escape Plan’s “When I Lost My Bet” is provocative, to say the least. The other clip it reminds me of is the one Converge released for their song “Axe to Fall” — like that video, “Bet” is full of disturbing, abstract imagery, frantically edited to match the song. And actually I think the footage in the DEP is vid is even more disturbing… or, at the very least, yucky. That’s really the only word I can think of to describe it. The result is a clip which is guaranteed to leave the viewer feeling uneasy.

But the real star of the video is the song, natch. This is only the second track off of DEP’s new album, One of Us is the Killer, after “Prancer.” And I think it kicks just as much ass as “Prancer.” In other words, so far, so good!
