ASG Used Papyrus Font in Their New Lyric Video
So there I am all super-stoked to see a press release drop into the MetalSucks Mansion inbox mere minutes ago announcing a brand new ASG song and accompanying lyric video. “Fuck yeah! ASG’s last album Win Us Over positively bowled me over! Stoked that Relapse Records signed these guys and super-duper excitebike to hear some new music!”
So I clicked the link and hit play, enjoying the trippy visuals and stoney grooves for roughly 22 seconds. And then the shit hit the fan.
PAPYRUS!
The absolute worst, most incorrigible, horrendous, kitschy, overused font in all of existence. So reviled that there are blogs devoted solely to making fun of it. Oh, my good God.
I hate to admit this, but I have definitely lost some respect for ASG. Papyrus is just in bad taste the way showing up to a funeral wearing a white tux is in bad taste, or the way wearing socks underneath sandals is in bad taste, or the way crocs on their own are in bad taste. How is it that not a single member of the band, management, booking agent, lawyer, family member, loved one, distributor, manufacturer, employee at Relapse, mistress, hooker, drug dealer, or SOMEONE ANYONE noticed this and said, “Uh… guys?”
Anyway, I guess the song is pretty good but I’m kinda too distracted to really care. Papyrus, fer Chrissakes! ASG should redeem themselves by releasing their next lyric video in Comic Sans and claiming it was all ironic this whole time.
