Shining Week Continues: “My Dying Drive,” Another New Song!
If the opening riff of Shining’s new song “My Dying Drive” reminds you a lot of “Fisheye” from the band’s last album, Blackjazz, that’s because band mainman Jørgen Munkeby intended it as a “direct link” to that song. And that’s a good thing: “Fisheye” rocked, and so does “My Dying Drive.”
This is the third song we’re hearing from Shining’s new album One by One, following “The One Inside” yesterday and “Won’t Forget” back in February. We’ll be hearing one new song every day this week leading up the album’s release [in Norway, therefore the world, because the Internet] this coming Friday. I love this lead up; how come more bands haven’t revealed new music in this manner?
Check out “My Dying Drive” at the Norwegian national radio website p3.no. Everything we’ve heard from this album so far gives me great, great faith that One One One will not be even the slightest bit disappointing as follow-up to the absolutely stellar Blackjazz.
