Queens of the Stone Age’s God is the Sun
Queens of the Stone Age debuted a new song called “My God is the Sun” at the Brazilian edition of Lollapalooza, and, y’know, it’s pretty good. Not great, but certainly fine. I will always pine for the days of Songs for the Deaf, but those days ain’t coming back, and this could definitely be worse. It could have David Draiman on it, for example.
By the way, can we please take a second to appreciate the stage banter of Mr. Josh Homme?
“Thank you for making that sign, too, that’s fucking wonderful. You guys always make such beautiful signs and fucking beautiful dances and all this shit, I fucking love it.”
I mean… where does he come up with this stuff? Does he have a professional speech writer on staff? His own personal Cyrano de Bergerac whispering to him via an earpiece? Or does the man just have poetry coursing through his veins???
“My God is the Sun” will appear on Queens of the Stone Age’s new album, …Like Clockwork, which comes out in June. It will feature guest appearances by Dave Grohl, Trent Reznor, Elton John, and, oh yeah, Nick Oliveri, who hasn’t been in QOTSA since Deaf. Hmm….
