Ex-Fear Factory Bassist/Guitarist Christian Olde Wolbers Auditions for Machine Head

Now that Machine Head are down a bassist the band is holding auditions to find a new one in a very public fashion. They’re booked for the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem festival this summer so they’ve gotta find a replacement, like, really soon. We’re sure Robb Flynn has hundreds of audition videos to sift through, but there’s one particularly high profile submission that should catch his eye: ex-Fear Factory bassist Christian Olde Wolbers, who played with his former band for 15 years (first as bassist, then as guitarist after Dino Cazares quit). Wolbers also currently plays with Arkaea, although that band has been silent for a good minute, and produces other bands. Here’s Wolbers’ audition video, via Lambgoat:

Wolbers looks and sounds more than qualified (including vocals), so unless Machine Head has already selected someone and they’re just running this public audition contest as a publicity stunt I’ll bet he gets serious consideration. He also has been around the block a few times and knows the ropes of the road, so I’d imagine he presents an advantage to some green, inexperienced bass player in that regard. But, on the other hand, he probably expects to be paid as such, so who knows. Machine Head with Wolbers would definitely be fine by us.
