Cathedral’s Last-Ever Music Video Could Be Better

I like Cathedral, and I like “Tower of Silence,” the first (and possibly final) single from their forthcoming farewell album, The Last Spire. So I mean this in the nicest possible way:

The video for “Tower of Silence” is crap.

Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate an attractive woman walking around carrying a skull as much as the next metal fan — I mean, the “boner” and “great head” jokes practically write themselves! — but you’re in bad shape when a clip has fake smoke in it. I mean, if you’re Chris Nolan and you a few hundred million dollars to spend and you have to digitally add fake steam coming out Batman’s mouth because you’re shooting a winter scene in the middle of August, that’s one thing, but this is just ri-goddamn-diculous.

Still a cool song, though!

Metal Blade will release The Last Spire in North America on April 30.
