Starting Monday: MetalSucks Presents The Top 25 Modern Metal Frontmen
In 2011, we did our list of The Top 25 Modern Metal Guitarists.
In 2012, we did our list of the The Top 25 Modern Metal Drummers.
Surely, you must have seen this coming —
Starting this Monday, March 4, MetalSucks will unveil its list of The Top 25 Modern Metal Frontmen.
(And, by the way, “men,” in this case, is being used in the same manner as “mankind” — that is, it refers to both genders. “The Top 25 Modern Metal Frontpeople” and “The Top 25 Modern Metal Frontmen and Women” both sounded clunky to our ears. No one should be offended by a lack of reference to females in the list’s title.)
Once again, we polled the staff of MetalSucks for their picks, and will unveil one addition to the list every day for five weeks. MS staffers were asked to to consider vocal ability, live performance, and lyrics when making their choices — thus, “frontmen” and not just “vocalists.” Why did we do it that way? Good question! It seemed to us that it was the only fair way to compare the Halfords of the metal world to the Barneses of the metal world. Thus, apples and oranges all become bananas. Or something.
Furthermore, each frontman had to have both recorded AND performed live within the past five years. That’s the “modern” part.
So check back here at 5 pm EST this Monday, March 4 to learn the identity of #25 on the list. In the meantime, feel free to start guessing/arguing about who made the cut in the comments section below! SPOILER ALERT: Phil Labonte got zero votes.
‘Til Monday…
