Saturday To Pig Out To
A few weekends ago it was my birthday, and I managed to indulge in a rich and decadent French meal one night, a super-heavy Indian lunch the next day, an excessive amount of Mexican fusion tapas that night, and a good ol’ fashioned American pig-out the next day. My gut grew, and my bowels cursed me aplenty.
But the fun didn’t stop there. I have also recently fallen victim to a massive corned beef reuben at the infamous Carnegie Deli, as well as deliciously oxymoronic pizza night at my gym. Will power, where are you???
This is a long-and-broken-winded method of punishing myself for NOT hyping the recent album You Ruin Everything by Brooklyn’s own PIGS nearly enough. If there was a bit more justice in the world and I had been a good, attentive little piggy, I would have spun this amazing record once more when it first came out and realized just how phenomenal it is. Had I done so, it surely would have made my year-end list. And don’t call me Shirley!
PIGS is a bonafide underground supergroup, with Unsane’s Dave Curran fronting on vocals and guitar, production mastermind Andrew Schneider (of the tragically Hurricane Sandy-devastated Translator Audio at The South Sound in Gowanus, Brooklyn) on a snarling bass played with a Rat pedal, and drummer Jim Paradise from Freshkills.
Needless to say, this album is noisy, smart, to-the-point, and fucking baddass. PIG out to the album on Bandcamp!
