No New Tool Album This Year
Were you super-duper excited by the prospect of a new Tool album in 2013? Of course you were! Everybody was! Tool is awesome, and the release of new music by the band is always cause for celebration.
Only there will be no celebrating this year. From Metal Insider:
“When asked by [Chilean DJ] Radio Futuro about the possibility of Tool releasing a new album soon, Keenan reportedly replied ‘No new disc. Not this year.’ When further pressed about any plans to release new music, the Tool frontman stated ‘I have not written any songs. So no, there is nothing.’ Keenan also revealed that there are no immediate plans for A Perfect Circle to record a new album either.”
The news regarding APC is less surprising and also less bothersome, given that, some live performances aside, the band has pretty much been a non-entity for close to a decade already (Jesus, time flies). But the news about Tool is heartbreaking, even if my main man Vince basically called it back in December (Vince might know more about Tool than anyone who isn’t actually in the band). Assuming that Tool finally do release something new in 2014, it will have been EIGHT GODDAMN YEARS since the release of 10,000 Days — three more years than the band has made fans wait in the past. Remember when the wait in-between Ænima and Lateralus seemed ridiculously long and unbearable? Ah, the good ol’ days!
