Watch This Awesome Drum Video from Ex-Animal as Leader Navene Koperweis

You may have been a bit skeptical when the Twelfth Best Drummer in Modern Metal, Navene Koperweis, announced that he’d quit Animals as Leaders to pursue electronic music. The first piece of music he released from his new project Navene-K probably didn’t do much to quell your skepticism. This new video, however, might just blow your mind.

Navene just released a playthrough video of sorts to a song of his own called “On Smash.” When most of us think of electronic music we don’t exactly think of complicated drum beats, let alone live drums of any kind at all. But there he goes, playing through the entire song, and man, some of that shit is mighty intricate (especially the hi-hat work). The Matrix-like sweeping camera angles add a dramatic effect to the video, too, and they seem to fit this music perfectly (I don’t think you could get away with using those in a metal playthrough video).
