Black Sabbath: Recording Drummer Revealed!
Black Sabbath have announced that their album will be called 13,will be released sometime in June… and will feature drumming from Rage Against the Machine’s Brad Wilk.
I assume that 13‘s producer, Rick Rubin, played matchmaker here — after all, Rubin was Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave’s producer, too. But the news is still pretty surprising, just because I don’t think anyone in the general public considered Wilk for a second. After the current drummer from Ozzy’s solo band, Tommy Clufetos, played a string of shows with Sabbath last year, I think most people guessed he was just gonna be Sabbath’s new drummer. And since it doesn’t sound like Wilk is gonna do any touring with Sabbath, I’m guessing Clufetos will be… which I’m guessing has something to do with Wilk’s quote versus Clufestos’ quote. To pay Wilk to do some sessions is one thing, but to pay him to do a tour is a whole other deal.
I’m totally speculating, though. Maybe there isn’t a cynically-tinged reason why things have happened this way. All I know for sure is this: somewhere, Vinny Appice’s feelings are really, really hurt.
